Children & Youth Ministry

Proverbs 22:6 Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.

Our children’s and youth ministries targets children ages 5-18. We believe the path to God should start with your earliest steps. We aim to teach our youth the ways of the Lord through fun activities, peer fellowship, and bible studies they find engaging and easy to understand. Our children’s and Youth Ministries are perfect for families looking to bond together over their shared love of Christ and each other.

2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

Our Christian Education Ministry is for those who truly want to learn the words of God, as written in the Bible. This ministry goes beyond simple scripture recitation, and delves into a deeper understanding of the Word. Those who may have future aspirations toward their own ministries and pastorships are encouraged to join.

Class Leader's Ministry

Proverbs 11:14 Where no counsel [is], the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors [there is] safety. The Class Leaders Ministry is for those wanting to take on more of a leadership role in the church. As part of the Class Leaders Ministry you will be assigned a group of people (your “class”). It will be your mission to make sure the members of your class are staying true on their paths to righteousness, and to address any spiritual concerns or questions before they become spiritual challenges. Class Leaders report back to the pastor and each other, in order to keep a closer watch on the current spiritual climate of Steele Creek’s larger congregation. It is preferable that members of this ministry have been a part of the Steele Creek AME Zion family long enough to know its members and practices well.

The Women’s Home and Overseas Missionary Society is the oldest and largest organizations of the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church with over 800,000 members. In 1880, the Society was formed in response to an overseas church-planting venture by the denomination. More than 129 years later, the Society is involved in the diverse cultures of West, Central and South Africa, England, India, Guyana, Surinam and the Caribbean island, with its flagship overseas mission church started in 1878 in Brewerville, Liberia West Africa.

The purpose of the Women’s Home and Overseas Missionary Society of the African Methodist Zion Church is to:

  • Promote growth in the knowledge and understanding of God and His plan of redemption for the world, as revealed through Jesus Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit;

  • Exemplify the principles of Christian living and to win others to Christ;
  • Promote the cause of World Evangelism; and
  • Serve as a financial support system to undergird the world mission outreach of the A.M.E. Zion Church at home and overseas, to the end that, through the power of the Holy Spirit; Christ is exalted and God is glorified.

The Executive Board consists of 24 members that serves as the Executive Committee. This Board is led by a general president, with the assistance of a first and second vice president, an executive secretary, treasurer, recording secretary, twelve missionary supervisors each appointed by the Bishop of an Episcopal District and six departments that form and intergenerational bridge for mission participation, from preschoolers to seniors adults. These Christian churchwomen seek excellence in the LORD as they look beyond traditional methods of service to create innovative approaches for kingdom building nationally and internationally.

The Executive Board by its Constitution has the authority to make rules and regulations governing the Society consistent with hose specified in the Book of Discipline of the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church. It also has the power to fill vacancies of elected officers during the interim of the Quadrennial Convention. The Executive Board does not have the authority to make constitutional changes.

Our work is executed and carried out by our many missionary sisters and brothers across the world who are lifting the banner of Zion as they perform their duties as spelled out in the Constitution.
